Mary Shevlvey Campfield

Mrs. Mary Shelvey Campfield, 97, one of the Meadville area's oldest residents, died Wednesday afternoon at her home on Dunham Road near the American Viscose Crop. plant.

Mrs. Campfield was born in Elk County but soon moved with her family to Crossingville where she spent the early part of her life.  She is the eldest and last of a family of ten children.

She moved to the Meadville area with her husband, Henry Campfield, 55 years ago.  They built the house in what was then Vernon Township farmland.  Mr. Campfield died in 1938.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and its Priscilla Society and Meadville Grange.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Charlton and Mrs. Helen Reitze, both of Meadville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
