Maryevelyn L. Wasson

January 6, 1922 — May 30, 2014

Maryevelyn L. Wasson, 92, formerly of Leslie Road, Meadville and resident of Cribbs Home and Grace Nursing Center of Wesbury United Methodist Community since August 2003, died there Friday, May 30, 2014.

She was born in Cambridge Springs January 6, 1922, a daughter of A. Ned Flick and Mary B. Clay Flick Wykoff.  She married Lorance S. (Bud) Wasson February 5, 1947 and he preceded her in death August 12, 2003

Maryevelyn was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church.  Prior to her marriage to Bud, she worked at the Moore Davison Dairy and The Crawford Store.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts and crossword puzzles.  She especially enjoyed spending time with and following the lives of her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, M. Loralyn Barnes of Montgomery, AL, Dianne L. Lawson of Meadville, and Marla J. Wasson and her husband Edward Murak of Lewisberry; five grandchildren, Jeffery M. Barnes, Jennifer L. Barnes, Matthew J. Davis, Tyler H. Davis and Ann K. Davis; three great grandchildren, James and Fiona Davis and Mira Pettice-Yarnall; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan L. Robison; three sisters, Dorothy Pettit, Madeline Consla and Kathryn Wykoff; an infant brother, James Flick and two sons-in-law, Dean F. Lawson and Charles P. Barnes.

Calling hour will be Sunday from 6-7 p.m. at the McCracken Chapel of Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

The committal service with interment to follow will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Saegertown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
