Marynard J. Hill

Maynard J. Hill, 93, of Meadville, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his residence following a period of declining health.

He was born May 12, 1918 in Ironwood, MI, a son of Matt and Sophia Maki Hill.  He married Ruth W. Ahlberg May 8, 1942 and she preceded him in April 11, 2009.

Maynard was a graduate of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Schools in Michigan.  He was vice president and manager of Tussey Mountain Custom Kitchens, was owner and operator with his wife Ruth of Hills Office Supply and had previously worked at J.C. Penny Company and American Viscose.

An active member of Stone United Methodist Church for many years, Maynard was a former Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent.  He was also a former Lay speaker, having served the Palmer and Dicksonburg United Methodist Churches and was a former member of the Meadville Lions Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Karyn Graham and her longtime companion, William Francisco of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Karen Hill; four grandchildren, Janet Ross and her husband Kevin, Jeanette Hathaway and her husband Randy, Melanie Boswell and Steven Hill and his wife Lynette; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Hathaway and her companion Chad Norris, Quinton Ross, Quaid Ross, Zane Ross, Genna Hill, Lexi Hill, Amber Boswell and Sydney Boswell; and a sister, Martha Carns of Oak Park, MI.  Additionally, the special people at Aseracare Hospice, Tracey, Holly, Tom, Shannon, and Pastor Mark; Janet Wasserman from Active Aging; and everyone at Help Mates of Meadville.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary M. Hill; three brothers, Edward Hill, Earl Hill and Martin Hill; and a sister, Celia Cottel.

A memorial service will be Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
