Max Melvin Dillaman

Max Melvin Dillaman, 92, of Meadville and resident of the Crawford County Care center died there Friday, September 22, 2017.

He was born in Meadville May 22, 1925 a son of George Washington and Mildred Marie Graham Dillaman.  He married Florence E. Wright October 7, 1950  at Wayland Baptist Church and she survives.

He was a 1943 graduate of Conneautville High School.  During World War II he worked on the Great Lakes in ore shipping until 1949.  On April 17, 1951, he, along with his brother, Robert, opened Dillaman Brothers Auto Body and it continues in the family today.  He retired in 1990.  He was a member of Wayland Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #408, New Castle Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine Temple Erie, Crawford County Shrine Club, Zem Zem Motor Corps, a member and Past Monarch of Kismet Grotto and a life member of Vernon Central Hose Co.  He loved playing golf, enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending winters in Florida.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Florence, of 66 years, include: two sons, Gary L. Dillaman, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Meadville and James C. Dillaman and his wife Brenda of Saegertown; six grandchildren, Martin Dillaman and his wife Amanda, Craig Dillaman and his wife Briana, Jon Dillaman and his wife Joyce, Laura Dillaman Mannino and her husband Tony, Gary L. Dillaman, Jr. and his wife Katie and Ashley Dillaman Robertson and her husband Tracy; 14 great grandchildren, Owen Robertson, Luca Robertson, Finn Dillaman, Sawyer Dillaman, Eva Dillaman, Maxwell Dillaman, Irene Dillaman, James Dillaman, Nolan Dillaman, Perry Dillaman, Helena Dillaman,  Claire Dillaman, Meredith Dillaman and Sophia Mannino; a sister, Rachel Wiebel of Meadville; three sisters-in-law, Donna Dillaman, Christine Dillaman and Mary Owens and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Richard, Edwin and Clayton Dillaman.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lea Guiney, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Union City, officiating.
