Max R. Hyde

October 13, 1928 — February 3, 2001

Max R. Hyde, 72, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Westford, PA, October 13, 1928, a son of Wallace Max Hyde and Bernice Greenawalt Hyde.  He first married Bonnie Murphy and subsequently married Effie Kasbee, both of whom preceded him in death.  He then married Mary Lou Renkes January 25, 1995 and she survives.

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School, former member of the Hartstown Presbyterian Church and the Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce.  He was an active member of the National Rifle Assn.  He enjoyed working with antique tractors and was an avid gardener being very proud of his tomatoes.

He was owner of Hyde's Garage in Sadsbury Township for the past 43 years and most recently with his son, Max who will continue operation of the business.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary Lou, include a daughter, Sharon Hyde Zickafoose of Charlotte, NC; three sons, Tom R. Hyde of Jamestown, Max G. Hyde (Donna) of Conneaut Lake and Mark A. Hyde of Linesville; five stepsons, Paul R. Banks of Conneaut Lake, George J. Banks of Conneautville, Thomas K. Banks (Gina) of North Huntingdon, PA, William J. Banks (Lorrie) of Springboro and Phillip J. Banks (Michelle) of Springsboro; a stepdaughter, Mary Y. Banks of Conneaut Lake; twenty-five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Carroll (William) of Erie and Carol Orton (Roy) of Ripley, NY; two brothers, Donald P. Hyde (Marilyn) of Linesville and James D. Hyde (Estelle) of Linesville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first and second wives, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Kasbee.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Beaver Center Cemetery.
