Maxine Sparks Crane

Maxine Sparks Crane, 94, of Meadville, entered the arms of her Savior December 1, 2020 due to Covid-19 complications.  She resided at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Maxine was born at home May 17, 1926 to Harry and Bertha (Bahm) Sparks.  She married Oakley Crane September 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death November 30, 1975.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Luella, Loretta and Norma Jean; three brothers, Richard, Edward (Bud) and Robert; and a son-in-law, David Smathers.

Maxine was an avid quilter in her earlier years.  She loved to read her Bible, sew, sing hymns and spend time with her grandchildren.  She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Meadville for over 50 years.  Maxine also loved to cook and enjoyed her many years in the cafeteria for the Crawford Central School District.  She loved the farm life, animals and looking at the snow.  Her greatest joy in this life was, undeniably, her grandchildren.

Maxine will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched with her sweet loving spirit.

Survivors include a daughter, Fern Miller (Emerson) and four grandchildren, Kelly Heagy (Nathan), Adam Smathers (Shanna), Michelle Gledhill (Patrick) and Sharon Smathers (Fiance Matthew Ramsay).  She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, Ava, Brooke, Weston, Leah and Connor Heagy, Carly and Addison Smathers, and Levi, Hayden and Holt Gledhill and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Friday, December 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Heagy officiating.  The wearing of masks will be required.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
