At age 81, Maxine Valerie (Watts) Amos of Stoneboro passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024. Maxine was born in Stoneboro on March 3, 1943, to the late Delbert (Tim) and Bertha (Barb) Watts. She was a 1961 graduate of Lakeview High School. She retired from Polk State Hospital where she worked in personnel & administration. Maxine was active in the community where she volunteered for the Stoneboro Fireman Ladies Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a long-time member of the Stoneboro Presbyterian Church where she served in several roles including elder, deacon and choir director. She enjoyed singing, playing bingo, coloring, reading, playing cards, and spending time at the McQuiston Senior Center. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Beloved mother of Tracy Grandelis of Houston, PA & Tim (Beth) Amos of Stoneboro, PA; grandmother to Dane (Liz) Grandelis, Max (Liz) Grandelis, Nate (Sami Leddy) Grandelis, and Jacob (Kendra Bollard) Amos; great grandmother to Roselle, Etta, Madelyn and Makayla; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Maxine was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Watts. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, PA 16153 where family and friends are welcome on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2PM-4PM. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Creekpaum, officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.
