Maybelle V. Carpenter, 101, formerly of Meadville, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Sunday, April 30, 1995. She was the widow of Harley D. Carpenter, Sr., an Electric Utility Pioneer in Crawford County and founder of the Carpenter Light & Power Co.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in New York City, a daughter of Martin & Ethel (Zimmerman) Waibel. She had worked in New York for Gust, Weibel Ladies Clothiers in her early life. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville Women's Club, Meadville Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, Philo-Methesian Club, Iroquois Club and the Meadville Country Club.
Survivors include three sons, Harley D. Carpenter, Jr. of Meadville, Paul L. Carpenter of Erie and John H. Carpenter of Conneaut Lake; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Her husband preceded her in death, June 30, 1960.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
