Melanie J. (Mcconnell) Giesige

Melanie J. Giesige, 64, of Meadville (Vernon Township) died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Crawford County Care Center.

She was born February 6, 1952 in New Castle, a daughter of John F. McConnell, Jr. and Dorothy A. Sokevitz Saletra.  She married Jon C. Giesige February 18, 1983 and he survives.

Melanie was a 1973 graduate of Youngstown State University with an Associate’s degree in marketing management.  She worked as the marketing manager for Fisher’s Big Wheel and subsequently at Conneaut Cellars Winery, Conneaut Lake and at the Island View Manor, Marblehead, OH.

Melanie loved animals and enjoyed training service dogs.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Jon of 33 years, include her stepfather, Michael Saletra of Conneaut Lake; four stepchildren, Todd Giesige and his wife Cathy of Perrysburg, OH, Christina Przyojski and her husband Daniel of Temperance, MI, Scott Giesige and his wife Liz of Holgate, OH, and Troy Giesige and his wife Kim of Bedford, MI; three sisters, Kathleen Whiting and her husband William of Conneaut Lake, Barbara (Pinky) Richards and her husband James of Linesville, and Stephanie Morar and her husband John of New Castle; a brother, David McConnell and his wife Karla of New Castle; twelve step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Tara Brooke Giesige.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake where the funeral service will follow Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church officiating.
