Mellie B. Oakes

Mrs. Mellie B. Oakes, 84, widow of Jonathan C. Oakes, died very suddenly at her home in Cleveland, Thursday night.

She was the daughter of Allen and Hannah Britton and was born in Guys Mills April 28, 1858.  A great part of her life was spent in Crawford County.

She is survived by two daughters, Miss Lynnie and Miss Iva Oakes of Cleveland; a son, A. Bliss Oakes of Ridgewood, NJ; three grandchildren and the following siblings, Mrs. Effie Robins and Mrs. Ianthe Terrill of Meadville, Mrs. F. M. Smith of Huntington, CA, George Britton of Williamsfield, OR, Dr. Grant of Butler, N. Ward of Hammond, IN and Fred of Sapula, OK.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
