Michael L. Saletra

Michael L. Saletra, 75, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020.

He was born March 23, 1945 in Mahoningtown, PA, a son of William Stanley and Anna Rapso Saletra.  He married Dorothy Sokevitz November 19, 1972 and she preceded him in death December 9, 2011.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Union High School, New Castle and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.  He graduated from the Minneapolis School of Art with a commercial art degree and from the New Castle School of Trade with a computer electronics degree.  A self-taught machinist, Mike worked at Penntech Foundry, New Castle, Kennedy Tubular Products, New Castle and Biro Manufacturing, Marblehead, OH.

He was affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church, was a member and former financial secretary of Machinists Union Local 1120, member and former president and vice president of Meadville Council on the Arts, member of Meadville Photography Club and was an art director at the Heeschen Gallery.  Mike was a known artist and enjoyed photography.

Survivors include his fiancée Diane Petrillo of Meadville; Melissa Park of Port Clinton, OH who was like a daughter to Mike; four stepchildren, Kathleen Whiting (William) of Conneaut Lake, David McConnell (Karla) of New Castle, Barbara (Pinky) Richards (James) of Linesville and Stephanie Morar (John) of New Castle; thirteen step-grandchildren, Errin, Hilary, Carson, Travis, Keith, Johnny, Lee, Phil, Chuck, Jesse, Mary, Tera and Robert; many step-great-grandchildren; a step son-in-law, Jon Giesige of Meadville and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Melanie Giesige and a sister, Joyce Saletra.

Calling hours will be Thursday, June 25th from 1-3 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Russ Hixson, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating and military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.

Memorials may be made to Meadville Council on the Arts, P.O. Box 337 or the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
