Mildred Bailey, 90, a resident of Wesbury since 1984, died Tuesday, August 3, 1989 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born January 27, 1898, in Chapmanville, Venango County, a daughter of Wilber and Harriet Holder Battin. She married Dr. Roger S. Bailey, September 22, 1921. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1988.
Mrs. Bailey, a graduate of the former Edinboro State Normal School, taught briefly in Chapmanville. She was a 65-year member of Stone United Methodist Church and its Untied Methodist Women. She was a former Sunday School superintendant and a teacher at Stone Church. She was a member of the Meadville Women's Club and the Rota Literary Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs, George (Jean) Roskos of Tacoma, WA; two sons, Roger S. Bailey, Jr. of Paso Robles, CA and Dr. Alan D. Bailey of Meadville; one sister, Irene Coutler of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; one grandson, Michael Bailey; and three brothers, Frank, Donald and Walter Battin.
Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Hawke, pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Entombment was in Roselawn Mausoleum.
