Mildred I. Courson

Mildred I. Courson, 84, of Saegertown, died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Meadville May 19, 1930 a daughter of Gordon R. and Myrtle Harry McFarland.  She married Ernest L. Courson, Sr. July 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death June 24, 1981.

She worked over the years first at Mason’s Department Store, Spectrum Control and retired after working at K-Mart here in Meadville.  She enjoyed knitting, reading and going to the casino.

She is survived by a son, Larry Courson and his wife Diane of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Courson of Meadville; four grandchildren, David Courson and his wife Melonie, Dr. Jeff Courson and his wife Dr. Sladjana, Shawn Courson and his wife Annette and Todd Courson and his wife Janet; ten great grandchildren, Tiffany Braun and her husband Cody, Seth Courson and his wife Tara, Christopher Courson, Benjamin Courson, Zachery Courson, Jacob Courson, Megan Courson, Grace Courson, Samantha Courson and Emily Courson; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Bailey of Cochranton, Helen Altman of Knox and Ruth Courson of Knox; a brother-in-law, Glenn Courson of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ernest L. Courson, Jr. and a brother, Harry McFarland.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey Bobin, Pastor of Littles Corners United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
