Mildred L. Jenkins, 97, of Meadville, died Friday, March 1, 1996 at Wesbury United Methodist Community where she had been a resident since April 1994.
She was born March 19, 1898 in Randolph Township, a daughter of the late George W. and Katherine McKay Jenkins.
She was a graduate of Edinboro State Normal School were she received a BA in education and in 1946 she received her masters degree in education from Allegheny College. She worked for 43 years as a teacher and principle at First District and East End Schools retiring in 1963. In her retirement, she taught briefly at Lutheran Mission School for the Navajo Indian Reservation at Point Rock, AZ. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the PA State Education Assn. and the Crawford County Historical Society.
Survivors include two brothers, David T. Jenkins of Meadville and Robert F. Jenkins of San Diego, CA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Mosier and Ruth Ware.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
