Mildred M. (Dearborn) Walton, 104, a former 60-year resident of Wayland, East Mead Township, entered the presence of her Lord, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.
Born August 22, 1918, at Coons Corners in Hayfield Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Warren G. and Ada E. (Abbey) Dearborn.
Mrs. Walton attended Hayfield Township schools and graduated from Meadville High School, class of 1936. She was a graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary of Johnson City, NY (now a part of Summit University, Clark Summit, PA).
She was a retired homemaker and had previously been employed by Talon, Inc. and in later years at the Mead Nursing Home. She and her husband operated Shady Lawn Farm at Wayland throughout their married years which they fondly called “home”.
She was a member of Pleasantview Alliance Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a cherished friend of Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Waynesboro, PA.
She had a longtime involvement in the Wayland Cemetery Association.
Surviving family members include two sons, Pastor Harold W. Walton and his wife Nancy of Saegertown, PA, with whom she resided and Clyde A. Walton and his wife Marie of Meadville, PA; one stepson, Pastor Gerald D. Walton and his wife Carol of Meadville; a step daughter-in-law, Gail A. Walton of Saegertown, PA; grandchildren, Gwen Hannold of Meadville, Jennifer Such of Venetia, Jill Johnson of Franklin, TN, Joshua Walton of Meadville, Joy Shaffer of McMurray, Jacob Walton of Ankeny, IA, Joseph Walton of Dallas, TX and Dr. Johanna Walton of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walton was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Charles B. Walton on December 24, 2003; by a son, C. Howard Walton, a daughter, Norma E. Walton, a stepson, William C. Walton, a sister, Anna L. Dearborn; and two brothers, Maurice O. Dearborn and L. Arden Dearborn.
She was a cherished mother and faithful follower of Christ. Her children rise up and call her blessed . . . (Proverbs 31:28). We also praise God for the salvation she experienced through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, her patient loving spirit, and her devoted ministry of prayer.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM Sunday, July 23rd at ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, MEADVILLE, PA. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday, July 24th at the Pleasantview Alliance Church, 16233 State Highway 86, Saegertown. Interment will follow in Wayland Cemetery, East Mead Township.
