Mildred “Millie” Grine Roll, 88 of Stoneboro, passed away on February 24, 2024 at AHN – Grove City. Millie was born in Slippery Rock on August 26, 1935 to the late Raymond and Nellie (Spence) Grine. She was a 1953 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and a 1957 graduate of Slippery Rock Teachers College, earning her BS in Education. She began her career teaching at Moniteau Middle School. Through her years she worked as a substitute teacher at many area schools while raising her children. She was a very talented tennis player and was an instructor for over 40 years. She also owned and trained standardbred horses at the Meadows, Buffalo, Northfield, and The Great Stoneboro Fair.
Her brother David shared: All my sisters and I had a relationship based on the belief that love is an action and not a feeling (thanks to our Mom). Your Mom and I were drawn together in so many ways. She always demonstrated her love without conditions.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Helen Roll (Doug Bittner) – Indianapolis; Barbara (Jack) Carothers – Sandy Lake; and Russell Grine Roll (Lori Srock) – Dubois, grandchildren: Mary Bittner (Joe Girardin); Johann Bittner; Robb Sansom (Casey); Tara Sansom (Macenzie); Kim (Nick) McClearn; Kevin Carothers; Kyle Carothers; Isabella Roll (Travis); Sophia Roll; Lillian Roll; and Chase Sacks, great-grandchildren: Asia; Alannah; Miller; Kellan; Kennedy; Mason; and Carter, great-granddaughter: Rhiannon, brother David (Claudette) Grine, and dear friend: Pat Zbell-Henry.
In addition to her parents Millie was preceded in death by her sisters: Ann Calderone and Jane Hemmerlin.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose And Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake.
Funeral services will be private as per Millie’s wishes.
