Mildred S. Butler, 89, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Tuesday May 3, 2005.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, March 17, 1907, a daughter of Clyde E. and Mary Jane McNally Skillman. She was first married to Henry C. Sherman in 1947, and he died in 1962. She subsequently married Stanley R. Butler Oct. 31, 19970, and he died March 12, 1992.
She was a graduate of Youngstown South High School, and had been employed in retail sales for Kaufman’s of Pittsburgh. She had also been the New England sales representative for Helena Rubenstein Cosmetics, worked at the Crawford County Court House in the Assessment Office, in the admissions office of Meadville Medical Center, and as a Secretary for the Crawford County Historical Society.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, a Life member of Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Meadville Women’s Club, Meadville Elks Lodge Auxiliary, Past President of Vernon Lioness Club, Rota Literary Club, and had been an avid bridge player.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Mrs. J. Clinton (Barbara) Ray of Monroeville, and a step-son, Stanley R. Butler of Fairview, 4 step-grandchildren, and 4 step graet grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
A private family funeral service will beheld Thursday at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., with the Rev. Kathy Newport, pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum..
