Miriam L. McLaughlin, 92 of Irwin Twp, Stoneboro, passed away on January 21, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family after a sudden illness. Miriam was born in Worth Twp, Mercer County, on September 21, 1929 to the late Floyd and Theda (Gadsby) Kerr. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Grove City College in accounting and worked for Fargo & McGill, Slater Ford & Mercury, and taught at Dubois School of Business over her years. She also traveled to Palm Desert, CA for several years to assist her sister’s auditing business. Miriam retired at the age of 86 after working for many years at Earth, Sun, & Moon in Grove City. Miriam had a very sharp memory and lived a full vibrant life up until her death.
Miriam was a member of Irwin Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafting, and teaching her family her skills. She also enjoyed camping with her late husband at Plantation Park in Mercer. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Miriam married her beloved husband, Fred L. McLaughlin, Jr., on June 30, 1951, he preceded her in death on November 7, 1995.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Glen) Armstrong of Vienna, OH, grandchildren; Glen (Lori) Armstrong, Jr. of Eleanor, WV, Melissa (Stephen) Vash of Warren, OH, Andrew Armstrong of Cranks, KY, and Nicole Eakin of Washington, PA, great-grandchildren; Ross, Lainey, Gale, Emily, Ashley, Michael, Leslie, Logan, Alex, and Aaron, sister; Beverly Tuvell of Palm Desert, CA, as well as three nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her daughter, LuAnn McConnell, and her brother, Gale Kerr.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. – Sandy Lake.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
Interment will take place in Hendersonville Cemetery.
