Mitzi Carol Hopper McGinnis, 65, of Meadville, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie from complications do to Lupus and Scleroderma. Mitzi was born on November 18, 1942, in Foxburg, PA, the youngest of four daughters, to the late Llewellyn D. Hopper and Dorothy M. (Jordan) Hopper. After graduating from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1960, Mitzi worked as a bank teller in Emlenton, PA and then locally at the Meadville branch of Northwest Savings Bank. She later became an Administrative Assistant at the Vernon Township office of State Farm Insurance where she retired in 2005 after 11 years of service. Mitzi was known for her kindness, compassion and, above all, her devotion to her two sons. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Meadville where she was an active participant of the congregation. Additionally, she served many years as a member of the Meadville Junior Womens Club and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. As an avid golfer, Mitzi participated in the Thursday Night Ladies League at Whispering Pines Golf Course. She enjoyed antiquing, craft fairs and, most recently, traveling throughout the U.S. with her longtime friend and companion John Pickup. Mitzi is survived by her two sons, Timothy Alan McGinnis of Mount Holly, NC, and Andrew Thompson McGinnis of Hoboken, NJ; her three sisters, Lois Clawges of Sierra Vista, AZ, Peggy Bone of Houston, TX, and Pat Kemege of Bruin, PA; and her companion of ten years, John E. Pickup of Meadville. A memorial service celebrating Mitzis life will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 30 Park Avenue, Meadville with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, Pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in Mitzis memory to: Lupus Foundation of America, P.O.
