Myrtle E. Barton, 95, formerly of Corry, died Monday, September 17, 1973, at the Methodist Nursing Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Barton, who entered the Methodist Home for the Aged in 1965, became a patient at the hospital two years ago.
She was born at Kinzua, Warren County, on August 29, 1878, a daughter of Lewis and Elvira Whitman Everett. She was the widow of Fred N. Barton who died in 1963. Mrs. Barton was a member of the Corry First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church. She taught Sunday school at the church for 50 years. Mrs. Barton attended Clark Business College and taught school in Warren and Erie counties for a number of years.
Survivors include four nieces, Miss Patricia Ohrn and Miss Mary Ohrn, both of Corry; Mrs. Frank Barressi of Corry and Mrs. Leo Brown of Titusville and a nephew, Preston Ohrn of Erie.
Services were held at the Methodist Home Chapel.
Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery.
