Nancy R. Yates

Nancy R. Yates, 75, of Meadville died at home Sunday, February 24, 2013.  She was born May 11, 1937 in Johnsonburg, PA, a daughter of William and Edith Lundberg Launer.  She married William Jack Yates July 8, 1961 and he preceded her in death February 1, 2008.

She was a 1954 graduate of Johnsonburg High School.  She was employed first at East End Elementary School and then in the Dean of Students Office at Allegheny College, from where she retired.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women and served on several committees over the years.  She was also a member of Wesbury’s Sunset Auxiliary.  She also enjoyed bowling at the Monday afternoon bowling league at Plaza Lanes.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Yates and Jeffrey Yates; two sisters Charlotte Knopic and Shirley Steudler and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice McGuinness.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Johnsonburg, PA.
