Miss Naomi R. Steadman, formerly of New York City, Diamond, and Titusville, a resident of Holland Towers, Meadville and a patient at Wesbury United Methodist Community since Dec. 2000, died at Meadville Medical Center, Tuesday, March 12, 2002.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, a daughter of George & Florence Proper Steadman. She was a graduate of the former New York College of Music, and did post graduate study in piano at the Julliard School of Music, and in guitar at the Leon Block School in Brooklyn, NY. For 20 years she taught music in the New York Public Schools. She had been a member of an accordion band, having once appeared in Carnegie Music Hall, New York City. For 18 years she also did private teaching in Diamond.
She was a member of the National Music Teacher’s Assn., The Organ Club of Titusville, a former member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, its Ladies Guild, and church choir in Meadville, and most recently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville.
The last of her immediate family, cousins are her only survivors.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Norma Steadman, Leona Cone, and Florence Franklin, and 2 brothers, Scott Steadman, and Brian Steadman.
At her request, her body is being donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry of PA, for scientific study.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Cressman, Pastor, officiating.
