Nathan L. Robison

June 19, 1980 — December 20, 2012

Nathan Lorance Robison, 31, of Mayer, AZ and formerly of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Mayer.

He was born in Pittsburgh June 19, 1980, a son of Dianne L. Wasson Lawson and Earl Robison.

Nathan was a 1998 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High where he was a member of the National Honor Society and varsity baseball team.  He was a 2003 magna cum laude graduate from Allegheny College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in English.  He was a distinguished Alden Scholar and was a 2003 recipient of the Harold Huntley Haine Prize in history, presented to a senior year history major who has demonstrated both academic promise and performance in the area of American history.  He additionally was published during his junior year.

Following graduation from Allegheny, Nathan accepted a teaching position at The Orme School of Arizona where he had spent summers as a camp counselor.  He taught advanced placement U.S. and European History and various other history courses.  An accomplished flutist, writer and devoted educator, Nathan was the 2008 recipient of the Frank A. Roberts award from The Orme School, given annually to one faculty member for excellence in teaching.  Additionally, he was a former varsity baseball coach and girls junior varsity volleyball coach and he enjoyed the opportunities for trail riding and mountain biking that The Orme School ranch provided.

Survivors include his mother, Dianne L. Wasson Lawson of Meadville; his father, Earl Robison of Meadville; his maternal grandmother, Maryevelyn L. Wasson of Meadville; his paternal grandmother, Esther A. Pruskowski of Meadville; a half-sister, Katharine Hill of North Carolina; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved companion, Zora, his tuxedo cat.

He was preceded in death by his step-father and good friend, Dean F. Lawson; maternal grandfather, Lorance (Bud, Papa) Wasson; paternal grandfather, Earl Robison; and paternal step-grandfather, Chester Pruskowski.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
