Nellie M. (Peterson) Callahan

Nellie M. Callahan, 85, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at Rolling Fields.

She was born April 28, 1932 in Guys Mills, a daughter of Floyd and Florence Sperry Peterson.  She married James P. Callahan, Sr. February 6, 1954 and he preceded her in death February 20, 1999.

Nellie was a graduate of Randolph High School.  A homemaker, she had also worked at Cargo Cleaners and Isaly’s.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, flower gardening, hummingbirds and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Callahan of Conneaut Lake and Patrick Callahan and his wife Rachel of Conneaut Lake; nine grandchildren, Julia, Heide, Jennifer, Jessica, Cassandra, Crystal, Clay, Jared, and Ian; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Daniel, Colton, Aiden, and Grayson; two daughters-in-law, Carol Callahan and Waneta Callahan, both of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews including Marie Rohleder of Meadville with whom she was especially close.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Dan, Brian, and James Callahan, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Sierra and Hunter Callahan; three brothers, Homer, Floyd, Jr., and Ted Peterson; and two sisters, Gola Rappana and Florence Young.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 19th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Lawton, Pastor of Linesville and Harmonsburg United Methodist Churches, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
