Nellie J. Smock, 69, wife of Ralph C. Smock of Meadville, died Sunday, November 30, 1980, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks, following an illness of several months.
She was born in Meadville April 5, 1911, a daughter of Fred and Bertha Davison Rodgers. She married Smock in 1928.
She was employed for many years as a real estate broker with Bainbridge-Kaufman Real Estate Inc. and formerly worked in the loan department of the former Merchants National Bank. At one time, Mrs. Smock served as coordinator for the Y-Teen program at Meadville YMCA.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and was an active golfer who participated in the Ladies Golf League at Meadville Country Club.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, and her mother, Mrs. Bertha Betilian of Meadville; include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Miner of Carol Stream, IL; a son, Richard R. Smock of Kissimmee, FL; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rodger, in 1979 and two brothers.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
