Nelson G. Bunce

Nelson G. Bunce, 88, of Meadville passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at his residence.  He was born in Troy Center, March 14, 1929 a son of Howard and Mary Henry Bunce.  He married Joanne Raybuck September 10, 1955 and she survives.

He attended Titusville High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army in Germany.  He worked at Rex Carpenter Meat Packing Co. and Eager Beaver Lumber both of Townville until their closing.  He then worked at Pennsylvania Tool & Gage until his retirement.  He was always a hard worker and could fix anything.  In his retirement, he would do small engine repair and also work for Gordon’s Welding.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joanne, of 62 years include:  a son, John Bunce and his wife Joyce of Meadville; a daughter, Diane Foriska and her husband Tim of Meadville; a grandson, Andreu Foriska and his wife Paige of Warren, PA; two step-grandsons, Ryan Shaw and his wife Jen and Steven Shaw both of Meadville; a great granddaughter, Sophie Shaw; three sisters, Phyllis Humes of Cambridge Springs, Ruth Preston and her husband Ted of Diamond and Doris Wheeling and her husband Ed of Chapmanville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a very special granddaughter, Ashlee Nicole Foriska.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Colgan and Dorothy Eddy.

Calling hours will be Thursday, January 4th from 6:30- 9:00 p.m. and Friday, January 5th from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joong Wook Koe, Pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
