Nevin M. Cannon, 66, of Meadville, a retired Meadville heating contractor, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 1961, at his home after an illness of seven years.
Mr. Cannon was proprietor of the N.M. Carman Heating Co. until ill health forced him to retire from business. He was born near Venango, December 27, 1894, a son of James A. and Anna Minnick Carman, and made his home in Meadville for more than 30 years.
He was graduated from Edinboro State Normal School in 1912 and was a veteran of Army service in World War I. A member of Presbyterian Church, he was an elder there for a number of years. He was a member of Meadville Rotary Club, Covenant Masonic Lodge of Cambridge Springs, Erie Consistory and a former member of Zem Zem Shrine.
He is survived by his widow, the former Nellie Roberts; two daughters, Mrs. N.M. (Connie) Sekerak of Berea, OH and Mrs. George H. (Jane) Nelson of Meadville; a son, John R. Ellison of Little Silver, NJ; a brother, Melvin B. Carman of Venango and 12 grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Venango Cemetery.
