Nicholas J. Mulchin

December 21, 1922 — October 28, 2006

Nicholas J. Mulchin, 83, of 232 Willow St., Meadville passed away Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Erie, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

He was born in Pittsburgh, December 21, 1922, a son of Nick and Eva Delida Mulchin.  His father died seventeen days before he was born, and he was raised by his step-father and mother, Nikanor Nibozin and Eva Mulchin Nibozin.  He married Marian Davidson November 7, 1953, and she survives.

He attended Guys Mills public schools and then served with the U. S. Army in World War II with the 175th M.P. Co. as a Sergeant in Attu, Alaska and as a rifleman in the Aleutian Islands.

He was first employed as a steel worker at Universal Cyclops in Titusville and then as an electronics technician for George Ott at the former Ott’s Radio and TV, and later at Montgomery Ward and Co. taking a disability retirement in 1970.

Nicholas and his wife Marian were the caretakers of the flower beds at Second District School for eight years.  He enjoyed working with his flowers and roses, woodworking and making props for the Meadville Community Theatre.  Most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren and his good friends.

He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 53 years include two daughters, Nicki Fleek of Meadville, and Juanita Green of Hartsville, SC, three sons, Gerald Wayne Mulchin and his wife Wanda of Coto De Caza, CA, Richard Lynn Mulchin and his wife Kathy of West Valley City, Utah, and Randy Mulchin of Meadville, seven grandchildren, Adam Fleek and his wife Mindy, Shawn Fleek, Sasha Mulchin, Ben Mulchin, Scott Marcoly, Doug Shuman and Kim Shuman and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Mulchin and two brothers Alex Mulchin, and Cerie Mulchin.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

There will be no public viewing or services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
