Nina R. Degroodt

Nina R. DeGroodt, 94, formerly of Meadville and a resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville since May 2014, passed away there Monday, November 3, 2014.

She was born November 16, 1919 in Meadville, a son of Lewis R. and Susie Mae Consla Riley.  She married Kenneth L. DeGroodt August 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1963.

Nina worked in production at Talon for 40 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Bettie Freyermuth of Meadville; a grandson, Scott Freyermuth of Meadville; a granddaughter, Debbie Shields and her husband Randy of Cochranton; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cheyenne; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Hoff; a son-in-law, Richard G. Freyermuth; and six brothers and sisters.

A private funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Russell Hines, Pastor of St. Mark’s Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1245 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
