Nita Grace (Hollabaugh) Pierce

January 15, 1926 — September 2, 2017

Nita Grace Pierce, 91, formerly of Mt. Hope died surrounded by family Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Waterford.

She was born in Black Ash January 15, 1926 a daughter of Earl William and Elzada Cornell Hollabaugh.  She married Harry R. Pierce April 2, 1947 and he survives.

She was a 1944 graduate of Randolph High School and worked for many years for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. at their A & P Markets in Titusville and Franklin as head cashier.  She was a long-time member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and in later years attended the Chapmanville Community Church.  She was a member of the Grottoettes and Order of Eastern Star.  She was a wonderful cook, made great pies and also enjoyed traveling and sewing.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Harry of 70 years, include: two daughters, Diane Sheckler and her husband John of Saegertown and Teresa Cook and her husband Daniel of Waterford; two grandchildren, Rebecca Hasenkopf and her husband John of Saegertown and Tyler Cook and his wife Stacey of Waterford; three great grandsons, Elijah, Judah and Noah Cook; a step-brother, Roger Schweitzer of Columbia, SC; two step-sisters, Martha Lewis of Hamden, CT and June Brunner of Somerset, PA and her many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her, Aunt Gracie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Glen Hollabaugh; twin sisters, Louise Keller and Lucille Williams; a step-sister, Lenore Russell and two step-brothers, Neil Schweitzer and Myles Schweitzer.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills.  The funeral service will follow at the church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy. 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville where memories and condolences may be shared at www.waidfuneralhome.net
