Norma Ann Richard Burchard

Norma Ann Richard Burchard, 93, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020.

She was born December 30, 1926 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Esther Pees Richard.

Norma was a 1944 graduate of Randolph High School and attended Indiana University of PA for music.  In her younger years, she played the organ for church weddings and she worked for the war effort during World War II as a Rosie the Riveter.

She was employed at Allegheny College as a librarian and in later years volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  She was a life-long Catholic and member of St. Hippolyte Church where she was a faithful volunteer for many years at the annual ham and chicken dinner.  She was strong in her faith and always directed her children to follow the path of God.

Norma derived so much joy in watching her family compete in all sports (as long as it was after the noon hour!).

Survivors include two daughters, LuAnn Burchard of Meadville and Donna Scott of Pittsburgh; two sons, Thomas Burchard (Stephanie) of Cincinnati, OH and John Burchard (Mary) of Meadville; eight grandchildren, Zachary and Nathan Scott and Gregory, Matthew, Natalie, Samuel, Sydney and Jack Burchard; three great-grandchildren, Gaven, Willow and Cameron; two brothers, Daniel Richard (Cecile) of Guys Mills and Paul Richard (Sophie) of Titusville; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be Sunday, August 30th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a Scripture Prayer service at 5:00 p.m.  Guests are requested to wear masks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills with Fr. Michael Kesicki as Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
