Norman D. Oakes

September 2, 1862 — December 27, 1939

Norman D. Oakes, former resident of Randolph Township, died Wednesday at his home in Stroudsburg.

Mr. Oakes had been a resident of Monroe County the past 20 years.  Only recently had been forced to retire from his position as overseer of poor health.

Surviving besides the widow are five children, Mrs. Ted Vernoy of Canadensis, PA, Mrs. Philip Thomas of TN; Vera and Audrey Oakes of Florida and Richard Oakes of the US Navy; also four grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
