O.C. (Barney) Barnard, 85, of Meadville, yardmaster at Erie Lackawanna Railroad for 44 years, died at his home, Tuesday, April 2, 1991, after a short illness.
He was born April 17, 1905, a son of Harry L. and Emma M. Barnard. He married Pauline Murphy in 1930. She preceded him in death in 1956. He subsequently married Mary I. Martin in 1958. She survives.
He retired in 1972 from the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, where he served as yardmaster for 44 years, first with the Erie Railroad, and then with its successor, the Erie-Lackawanna.
He was a member of the Park Congregational Church.
He was a member of Crawford Lodge 234 F and AM; the Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie; Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie; Crawford County Shrine Club; member and past monarch of Kismet Grotto, Meadville; member and past president of the Ohio Grotto Assoc.; Elks Lodge 219; and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Ronald Barnard of Meadville; a stepson, Roger (Terry) Martin of Meadville; a step-daughter, Mary (Jacqueline) Golnik of Rocky River, OH; two sisters, Fayetta Larsen of Montreal, Canada and Mrs. Walter (Norma Jean) Mesarch of Boardman, OH; two brothers, Lloyd Barnard of Ft. Myers, FL and Dale Barnard of Sudbury, MA; and five grandchildren.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
