Olive S. Oakes

September 3, 1885 — July 13, 1969

Miss Olive S. Oakes, formerly of Meadville, died Sunday evening July 13, 1969, at the Baptist Home at Castle Shannon, Pittsburgh, where she had lived for the past several years.

She was born in Meadville, a daughter of Avery G. and Sylvia Lewis Oakes.  She had been a secretary in the Effie Bailey insurance office for 25 years and had been office receptionist for Dr. O. H. Jackson for several years.  Miss Oakes was a 1907 graduate of PA College of Music and was a past president of the Walter A. Wilson Aux. No. 66, Spanish-American War Veterans.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving is a sister, Miss Myra Oakes of Castle Shannon.  Two brothers preceded her in death.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
