Mrs. Orpha Milliron Beck, 77, of Hudson, FL, formerly of Meadville, wife of William J. Beck, died Wednesday, March 4, 1987, at HCA Bayonet Point Medical Center, Hudson, FL, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Beck was born in Kaylor, Armstrong County, Decemeber 4, 1909, a daughter of Byron Ralston and Pearle Gertrude Wolfe Doverspike. She married W. Ray Milliron. He preceded her in death in 1954. She subsequently married Mr. Beck. He survives.
Mrs. Beck had worked as a cytotechnologist at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, at Southgate Medical Laboratory, Cleveland, OH, at Meadville City Hospital, and as a teaching supervisor at Metropolitan General Hospital, Cleveland. She graduated from Kittanning High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from Thiel College. She receieved her certification as a laboratory technician in cytology from Rosswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, NY.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Mead Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Trinity White Shrine, the African Violet Society, the Sweet Adelines, was a charter member of the Order of the Amaranth, and was a life member of the Elks Auxiliary.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Orpha Irene) Galleher of Parma, OH and Mrs. Rebecca Ray Slater of Meadville; a son, William R. Milliron, Severna Park, MD; and three grandchildren.
Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Kittanning Cemetery.
