Mrs. Otelia Fox Bainer, 90, of Meadville, widow of John David Bainer, died at the United Methodist Nursing Hospital Wednesday, January 4, 1978, after a period of failing health. She had been a patient at the hospital for one week.
Born at Marysville, OH, on February 12, 1887, she was a daughter of George E. and Josephine Burger Fox. Her husband was chairman of the board of the former Merchants National Bank when he died in 1965. Mrs. Bainer was a member of First Presbyterian Church, was president of Hillside Home, and the Ladies Advisory Committee of Meadville City Hospital, the Women's Assoc. of First Presbyterian Church, the United Way of Western Crawford County, the Crawford County Historical Society, Philo-Mathesian Literacy Club and the Country Club.
Mrs. Bainer moved to Meadville from Cleveland in 1936.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William A. (Mary) DeArment of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Allen (Esther) Nelson of Huntington, VW; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Joseph, who died in 1944 while serving in the US Calvary Service in the South Pacific.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. William A. Smith, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
