P. Thomas Phillips, 88, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born January 17, 1929 in Hartstown, a son of Monroe (Roe) and Rella Nelson Phillips. He married Charlotte Popeney March 5, 1949 and she survives.
Tom was a 1947 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of the Alliance Technical Institute, Cambridge Springs with an associate’s degree in tool and machine design. He worked as an auto body repairman at Phillips Auto Body and then Dillaman Brothers. He subsequently worked at Talon for 22 years and then Syst-A-Matic Tool and NuTec Tool as a tool and machine designer, retiring in 1991.
Tom was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234, Kismet Grotto, Meadville Elks Lodge 219, and the Crawford County Road Riders.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Charlotte, include three sons, Larry Phillips and his wife Elaine, Steven Phillips and his wife Debra, and Brett Phillips and his wife Marjorie, all of Meadville; six grandchildren, Shane Phillips, Richard Phillips and his wife Paula, Stacy Christensen and her husband David, Julie McGinnity and her husband Michael, Dalton Phillips and his wife Samantha, and Hannah Phillips; four great-grandchildren, Keith, Lane and Aurora Phillips and Matthew McGinnity; a brother, James Phillips of Riverside, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen McIntosh.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
