Patricia A. Smith

Patricia A. Smith, 62, of Meadville, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 17, 1951 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Joyce A. Welsh Wood.  She married Mark C. Smith October 12, 1974 and he preceded her in death October 6, 2002.

Patricia was a 1969 graduate of Meadville High School and was employed by Crawford Central School District for 36 years, retiring in 2005.  She worked as a secretary at Meadville Area Senior High her entire career including over 20 years as head secretary.  Patricia held various offices in the Pennsylvania State Support Association throughout the years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church, a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville, was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading.  Patricia always enjoyed laughing and cherished her time interacting with friends and especially family.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Smith and his wife Amy of Meadville; a sister, Janice D. Derby and her husband Terry of Meadville; a brother, Edward L. McClay and his wife Joanne of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, Pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
