Patricia C. Smith

Patricia C. Smith, 85, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 30, 1934 in Meadville, a daughter of G. Stanley and Helen Guenther Coulter. She married Richard P. Smith September 11, 1954 and he preceded her in death June 6, 2009. Pat was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Crawford County Trust Company and Etheridge Electric and subsequently was the West Mead Township tax collector for 24 years. Pat was a member of St. Brigid Church and former member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an avid NASCAR and Cleveland Browns fan, loved her Dobermans, and enjoyed nature, watching the deer, turkey and bear on her property. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Smith and her husband Lou Ferrante of Chatham Township, OH; a son, Tim Smith of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Smith of OFallon, IL; two grandchildren, Chelsea and Lauren Smith; three step-grandchildren, Chad Beige and Josh and Jeremy Witt; a great-granddaughter, Preslea Smith; a sister-in-law, Isabel Smith of Saegertown; a brother-in-law, John Etheridge of Conneaut Lake and nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Scott Smith and a sister, Connie Etheridge. The family would like to thank the staff at Home Instead and Hospice of Crawford County for the wonderful care extended to their mother and to John and Joanne Ende for their love and support. Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 29th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a scripture prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
