Patricia L. Rounds, 89, of Meadville, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville.
She was born October 16, 1919 in Uhrichsville, OH, a daughter of the late Jamie and Martha Grussey Mears. She married Wilbur D. Rounds and he preceded her in death March 26, 2003.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School and attended Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ taking computer courses. She worked at Talon for over 20 years, retiring as a supervisor in the data processing department.
A woman of faith, Patricia was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed the bible study group she started and hosted for many years.
She was a publicity chairwoman for the school Parent Teacher Assoc. for many years. She enjoyed ceramics, knitting, crocheting, reading, collecting books, and was an excellent baker and good cook. She additionally enjoyed camping with her husband, and their children in her younger years. Family was very important to Patricia and she loved family reunions. The most important thing in her life was being a mother and encouraging others.
Survivors include a son, William D. (Will) Rounds of Bothell, WA; a daughter, Valerie Rounds of Richfield, MN; four grandchildren, Serena Crawford, Patricia Rounds, Elliott Johnson, and Veronica Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Patricia Crawford; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George R. Rounds; four brothers, Sam, Stan, Crawford, and George Mears; and three sisters, Mary Jo Malterer, Pauline Hudson, and Anita Michaels.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral and committal service will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Murphy, United Methodist Clergyman officiating.
Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
