Patricia May Brenneis

May 3, 1941 — November 13, 1947

Injured in what was believed to be indirect results of a Halloween prank on the Saegertown-Woodcock School grounds October 28, Patricia Brenneis, 6 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brenneis of Meadville, died at City Hospital November 13, 1947.

The child was hurt when a sliding board on the school yard was knocked over by a group of children playing, and Patricia, standing beside it at the time, was unable to get out of the way.  Principle John A. Harvey said the slide obviously had been uprooted the night before by Halloweeners.  Some of the children apparently discovered the slide's foundations had been loosened and knocked it over.

Patricia had undergone an operation earlier in the day of the death for a fractured thigh bone.  Her death was due to a pulmonary emboli, a blood clot condition in the lung, which developed following the operation.

Besides her parents, the child is survived by a sister, Frances Carolyn; a brother, Albert Jr.; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Carl N. Sutliff of Meadville and Richard Terrill of Saegertown.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Peiffer Cemetery.
