Paul Eugene Corey

August 11, 1895 — November 11, 1959

Paul Eugene Corey, 64, of Guys Mills, died Wednesday, November 11, 1959, enroute to Spencer Hospital after being stricken at his garage in Frenchtown.  He reportedly had suffered from a heart ailment for about a year.

Corey was an auto mechanic and owned and operated Frenchtown Garage.  He had made his home in Randolph Township for 31 years.  He was one of the first auto inspection station owners in the county, operating garages in Guys Mills, Blooming Valley and Frenchtown.

He was born in Beaver Township, August 11, 1895, a son of Thomas A. and Ida Rood Corey.  He was married to Ancinohie Smith, July 8, 1926, by the Rev. George R. D. Braun.  Mrs. Corey formerly operated the old Guys Mills Telephone Co. switchboard and was a Tribune correspondent for her community at one time.

Surviving besides the widow, are four daughters, Mrs. Alven H. (Mary Esther) Van Slyke of Guys Mills, Mrs. Henry B. (Adora) Yokum of Townville, Mrs. Homer W. (Paula Gene) Brown of Townville, and Mrs. Jerome E. (Jennie D.) Kimmel of Erie; a sister, Mrs. James (Lylan) Fisher of Milford, MI; four brothers, Ross A. of Conneautville, Thomas B. of Pontiac, James B. of Meadville and Edwin J. of Warren; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
