Paul Popeney, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis Rush of Black Ash, Sunday morning, after an illness of three months.
Mr. Popeney was born at Montbozon, France, October 20, 1853, a son of the late Nicholas and Jane Popeney, who came to America in 1854 and first settled near Bousson. Later, they removed to a farm near Guys Mills, where the son spent the greater part of his life, until a few years ago when he moved to Frenchtown.
June 11, 1889, Mr. Popeney married Miss Elvina Gandillot and to this union were born six children, three of whom survive the parents, Mrs. Louis Rush of Black Ash, Mrs. Roy Campbell of Meadville and Leon Popeney of Yonngstown; one sister, Mrs. Tillie Carter of Chicago. Mr. Popeney was a faithful member of St. Hippolyte Church.
Services were held with the Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
