Pearl Evelyn Roney

January 10, 1919 — February 22, 2001

Pearl Evelyn Roney, 82, of Meadville, died suddenly Thursday, February 22, 2001 at the Meadville Medical Center.

Born in Bridgeville, PA, January 10, 1919, she was the daughter of John and Margaret Dice.  She married the Rev. Herman F. Roney, November 24, 1940 and he survives.

She graduated from Bridgeville High School.  As a pastor's wife, she lived in Pittsburgh, Belle Vernon, McKeesport, Murraysville, Oil City and for the past 22 years in Meadville.  As a member of Stone United Methodist Church, she sang in the church choir and was a frequent soloist and worked with the United Methodist Women.  She was a member and past president of the Tuesday Morning Music Club.  She loved singing and painting and was a member of the Erie Guild of Craftsmen and the Forest Area Craft Assn., where she served as secretary.  She participated in many craft shows in Meadville, Erie, Pittsburgh, Butler, New Castle and in West Virginia, Ohio and western New York.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 60 years, include two sons, Herman Fred Roney, Jr. of Cranberry Township and Jeffrey Alan Roney of Columbus, OH; a daughter, Judith Kay Kelly of Escondido, CA; a sister, Marie Maoli of Florida; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
