Peter Patrick Higgins, 78, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born April 7, 1930 in White Plains, NY, a son of the late Peter A. and Aileen Murray Higgins. He married Adrienne Scott January 4, 1958.
A U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War, he served from 1950 to 1952. Peter was a licensed aircraft mechanic, retiring from U.S. Airways in 1990 following 35 years of service and was a former Summit Township Zoning officer. He was a member and past commander of the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842 and member of the Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 3 and Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club. He especially enjoyed working on cars.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Adrienne of 50 years, include 2 daughters, Christy Fitz and her husband Wes of Prospect, KY and Kelly Higgins of Laurinburg, NC; a brother, Terry Higgins and his wife Vicki of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Higgins.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake with a Scripture Prayer Service at 6:45 p.m. and a Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake with Fr. Steve Anderson as Celebrant and military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.
