Peter Paul Damico, Sr., 84, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at his sons home in Indiana, PA.
He was born February 9, 1925 in Meadville the son of August and Filomena Patriarci Damico. He married Josephine Rappa in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1980. He subsequently married Esther Pecar of Erie, PA in 1982 and she preceded him in death in 1994.
He bravely served his country in the US Navy during World War II as a gunner on board the USS Vincennes. He was an ironworker most of his life and he also owned and operated a small business in Meadville. He was a member of the Italian Civic Club, the Sertoma Club, Elks Lodge #219, Huidekoper VFW Post #2006, the Siebenbuerger Club in Erie, Vernon Central Vol. Fire Dept., Conneaut Lake Vol. Fire Dept. and Conneaut Lake Park Vol. Fire Dept. Pete was a cook for the Itailian Civic and Sertoma Clubs serving many dishes of his pasta, sauce and meatballs. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and dancing with his close friends and relatives.
Survivors, include: two daughters, Joyce Babcock and her husband Bill of Dallas, TX and Judy Cook and her husband Dale of Peoria, AZ; a son, Pete Damico, Jr. and his wife Kay of Indiana, PA; a brother, Elpedio Damico of Louisville, KY; his companion and friend, Alberta Crickbaum of Conneaut Lake; four grandchildren, Chelsey Canterbury and her husband Kevin of Chandler, AZ, Zachary Damico of Indiana, PA, Cambria Lane and her husband Zachary of Surprise, AZ and Abby Damico of Indiana, PA; one great grandson, Jacob Canterbury of Chandler, AZ and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will forever be a part of our lives and hearts.
In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Damico, Sr.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Richard Toohey, Pastor of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 310, Meadville, PA 16335.
