R. Donald Grove

R. Donald Grove, 84, of Meadville, and a resident of Edinboro Manor for the las few weeks, died there, Friday, May 31, 1996 following a period of declining health.

He was born June 10, 1911 in Cooperstown, Venango Township, a son of the late Burton and Mabel McClaughry Grove.  He married Elma McFadden October 11, 1947.  She died June 4, 1958.  He subsequently married Victoria Thomas, June 27, 1959.  She died February 10, 1960.

Mr. Grove was a 1928 graduate of Richmond Township High School.  He was a maintenance supervisor at the Meadville Public Library for 35 years, retiring in 1995.  He had previously worked at Talon for 10 years and had also been involved with farming in Richmond Township.  He was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church, AARP and Seniors Coaltion.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Joyce) Birch of Meadville; one son, Terry L. Grove of Edinboro; two brothers, Kenneth Grove of Phoenix, AZ and Joseph Grove of La Cresenta, CA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and also nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Cutshall and Evelyn Grove.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
