R. Duane Good, M.D., 90, of 866 Dogwood Drive, Meadville, died Wednesday January 5, 2005, at Meadville Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born in Smicksburg, Indiana County, PA, July 17, 1914, a son of Clair R. & Bessie Stockdale Good. He first married Virginia Derr in 1942 and she died in l961, he then married Jean Hays in 1962, and she died in l986, and then he married June Z. Prather in 1998, and she survives.
He was a 1933 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School, a 1937 graduate of Allegheny College where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and a 1941 graduate of Rush Medical School at the University of Chicago.
He was a practicing physician in Meadville closing his office practice in 1979, and retiring from his anesthesia practice in 1988. He was a member of Watson Run Presbyterian Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include 2 daughters, Phyllis Hoople and her husband Jim of Meadville, and Patricia Rentz, and her husband Jim of Orlando, Florida, 3 stepdaughters, Patricia Pineo and her husband Bill of Conneaut Lake, Mary Sue Prather and her husband Victor Rubiero of Lisbon, Portugal, and Sally Kyvernitis and her husband George of King of Prussia, PA, 3 stepsons, Tom Prather of Wilmington, NC, Mark Prather and his wife Carol of Meadville, and F. Lee Prather and his wife Teri, of Ojai, CA, 3 grand children, Jenny Hoople and her husband Raul Casique of Beloit, WI, Sally Hoople and her husband James Bell of Meadville, and Jeremy Hoople of Meadville, 15 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren, 1 sister Dora Jolly of Verona, and 1 brother Oscar Good of Murraysville.
In addition to his first 2 wives, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers Charles and Melvin Good.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Watson Run Presbyterian Church, 13594 Harmonsburg Road, Meadville, with the Rev. Frank Duncan, retired pastor, officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Greendale Cemetery.
