R. Lester Logan, 90, a resident of The Summit Place, Little River, SC and formerly of 727 Bashore Dr., Meadville and DuBois, PA, died Tuesday, October 05, 2004 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was born June 6, 1914 in DuBois, a son of the late Robert Lynn and Maude Wilson Logan. He married Mildred Kohlhepp October 20, 1944 and she preceded him in death July 19, 2003.
He was a 1934 graduate of DuBois High School. He worked for Penelec for 35 years as a meter reader and storekeeper, retiring in 1979. He was a 50-year member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #559, Dubois; 50-year member of the Coudersport Consistory; and a 50-year member of the Fourth Ward Hose Co. Volunteer Fire Dept., Dubois.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, DuBois.
Survivors include a daughter, Carletta Howard and her husband William of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; 2 granddaughters, Hillary Emrick and her husband Adam and Heather Howard; 1 great-granddaughter, Logan Emrick; 2 cousins, whom he helped raise, Shirley Griffith Naber of Decatur, IL and Thomas Griffith of Orlando, FL; a very special friend, Linda Tindall of Cochranton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hackett and 2 brothers, Donald Logan and his twin brother, Chester Logan.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 100 W. Long Ave., DuBois where a funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Spencer, United Methodist Clergyman and the Rev. Ray Beal, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery, Sandy Twp., Clearfield Co.
