Rachel G. Craine

Rachel G. Craine, 101, formerly of Hickory Street, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Sunday, January 15, 2006.

She was born in New Vernon Twp, Mercer Co., PA March 2, 1904 a daughter of Andrew J. and Clara Livingston Gallagher.  She married Cecil L. Craine August 31, 1937 and he preceded her in death January 10, 1971.

She was an elementary school teacher, teaching for 4 years in the Aliquippa schools and for 21 years as a 4th grade teacher in the Meadville schools.

She was a 1924 Graduate of Edinboro State Normal School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Faith Circle Presbyterian Women’s Assoc. and a former Sunday School teacher.  She was also a member of Meadville Women’s Club and Thesarus Literary Club.

Survivors, include: one niece Phyllis Byers of Meadville and one great niece, Marilyn Watson and her husband Denny of Conneaut Lake and one great great niece and nephew.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Cozadd and one brother, Harold Gallagher.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
